Return a purchase

Start a return within 30 days, pick a reason, print the prepaid label, and follow the return in your account.

You have 30 days from the date of your order to return a purchased book. You start every return the same way, in your account, whether the book came from our warehouse or from an independent seller; the label tells you where it goes.

Start a return

  1. Sign in, click My account, then Returns. You can also open the order under Orders and click Start a return, which opens the same form with the order already chosen.
  2. Click Start a return.
  3. Under Which order? choose the order. Only orders with a shipped copy that has not already been returned are listed.
  4. Under Which books are going back? tick each copy you are returning.
  5. Under What happened? choose the reason. The line under the list tells you who pays the return postage:
    • Wrong item sent, Arrived damaged, Not as described, Arrived too late: the seller pays the return postage.
    • No longer needed, Another reason: return postage comes out of your refund.
    • It never arrived: no label is needed. We investigate with the carrier and the seller and get back to you.
  6. Add a note under Anything we should know? (optional) if it helps.
  7. Click Start the return.

Get the label and ship the book

The return now appears on the page as Return # with the status In progress and a line saying whether the book goes back to Bookface or the seller.

  1. Click Get the prepaid return label. A tracking number appears, with print it to open the label.
  2. Pack the book in the condition you received it: unused, undamaged, and in its original packaging for a new book.
  3. Tape the label to the package and drop it at the post office.

Click print it again any time you need the label.

Follow the return

  • Received appears on a book once it has arrived back.
  • Refunded appears once the refund has been issued. Starting a return does not issue a refund by itself; the refund is decided once we or the seller have the book back. See Refunds.
  • The status changes to Completed when the return is finished, or Canceled if it was withdrawn.

Conditions

Books should come back in the condition you received them. A book that comes back damaged or with extra wear may get a partial refund, or the return may be declined. The full policy is at Return policy.
