Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our services.
Bookface.com Privacy Notice
Bookface.com knows that you care how information about you is used and shared, and we appreciate your trust
that we will do so carefully and sensibly. This notice describes our privacy policy. By visiting Bookface.com,
you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Notice.
What Personal Information About Customers Does Bookface.com Gather?
The information we learn from customers helps us personalize and continually improve your shopping experience at
Bookface.com. Here are the types of information we gather.
Information You Give Us:
We receive and store any information you provide in relation to our services. You can choose not to provide
certain information, but then you might not be able to take advantage of many of our features. We use
the information that you provide for such purposes as responding to your requests, customizing future
shopping for you, improving our stores, and communicating with you.
Automatic Information:
We automatically receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with us. For example,
like many web sites, we use "cookies" and your Ip Address and we obtain certain types of information when your Web browser accesses
Bookface.com or advertisements and other content served by or on behalf of Bookface.com on other Web sites.
Mobile:
When you download or use apps created by Bookface.com, we may receive information about your location and
mobile device, including a unique identifier for your device. We may use this information to provide you with
location-based services.
E-mail Communications:
To help us make e-mails more useful and interesting, we often receive a confirmation when you open e-mail from
Bookface.com if your computer supports such capabilities. We also compare our customer list to lists received
from other companies, in an effort to avoid sending unnecessary messages to our customers.
What About Cookies?
Bookface.com uses cookies, both internal and third-party. Cookies are small bits of information stored by
your browser on your computer's hard drive. Our cookies do not contain any personal information, but they
do store your settings and remember the contents of your shopping cart as you browse the site or between
visits. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies.
Does Bookface.com Share the Information It Receives?
No, we do not share your information with any third party. Information about our customers is an important part of
our business and we are not in the business of selling it to others.
Third-Party Service Providers:
We employ other companies and individuals to perform functions on our behalf. Examples include sending
e-mail, removing repetitive information from customer lists, analyzing data, providing marketing assistance,
processing credit card payments, and providing customer service. They have access to personal information needed
to perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes.
Business Transfers:
As we continue to develop our business, we might sell or buy businesses or business units. In such transactions,
customer information generally is one of the transferred business assets. Also, in the unlikely event that
Bookface.com or substantially all of its assets are acquired, customer information will be one of the transferred assets.
Protection of Bookface.com and Others:
We release account and other personal information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law;
enforce or apply our conditions of use and other agreements; or protect the rights, property, or safety of
Bookface.com, our users, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations
for fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
Promotional Offers:
Sometimes we send our customers promotional emails informing them of a new product or service that we are
offering. If you wish to not receive such email, simply respond to the first such email you receive with
the word 'UNSUBSCRIBE' in the email subject.
With Your Consent:
Other than as set out above, you will receive notice when information about you might go to third parties, and
you will have an opportunity to choose not to share the information.
How Secure Is My Information?
We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by encrypting it in transit.
We do not store your card or bank account details. Payments are handled by Stripe, our payment processor. When you enter a card, the details go directly from your browser to Stripe and never reach Bookface's servers. When you add a bank account, you can sign in to your bank through Stripe, so those details are never entered here at all; if you choose to type your account and routing numbers instead, they are passed to Stripe and are not kept by us.
What we do keep is a token from Stripe that stands in for your payment method, together with the details needed to show you which one you are using — the card brand, its last four digits and expiry month and year, or your bank's name and the last four digits of the account. We never store a full card number, a card security code (CVV), or a full bank account or routing number.
If you rent a book, you are asked to authorize us to charge your saved card later for rental charges such as an extension, a late fee, or buying the book you rented. We do not charge your card without you present for any other kind of purchase.
It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer. Be sure to sign off when finished using a shared computer.
