Honor code, reports and takedowns
What belongs in the library, how documents are kept, and how to report a material or ask for one to be removed.
The honor code is the short version of the deal: share what helped you learn, only if you hold the right to share it and it is not confidential. The copyright policy explains how we handle removal requests.
What you agree to when you upload
Every upload carries one attestation, which you check on the form: I have the right to share this material, and it is not confidential. Two rules cover everything: nothing you do not hold the rights to, and nothing given to you in confidence. Leave out other people's personal information. If you are unsure, write to support@bookface.com before you upload.
A person at Bookface looks at every upload before it is public. Removed uploads earn nothing.
How documents are kept
Your file is stored exactly as you send it. We never alter its content, add anything to its pages, or change its embedded properties, and nothing is watermarked. A material page shows the document's own title, author and copyright information under Document properties (as uploaded). Uploaders are anonymous: no name, handle or account is shown on a material.
Report a material
Signed in, on any material page, click Report this material, choose a Reason (Copyrighted or confidential material, Inappropriate content, Filed under the wrong course, Junk or unreadable or Something else) and click Send report. A person reads every report.
Ask for a takedown
If you own the rights to something here, or teach the course it came from, use the report form. No account or lawyer needed.
- Under 1. What are you reporting?, choose a Reason and paste the Address of the material, one link per line. For a copyright claim, describe The work you own. Say What is wrong with it? in a couple of sentences.
- Under 2. Who you are, give Your name and Email. School, publisher or company, You are, Telephone and Mailing address complete a formal notice; we do not publish them.
- Under 3. Two statements and your signature, check both statements and type your full name in Signature.
- Click Send notice.

The Notice received screen gives you a reference number. Keep it. Valid notices are acted on within 48 hours, and we email you when the material has been removed or if we need more from you.
Instructors and schools: material from a course you teach does not need a formal copyright claim. Use the form with your school email address, or write to support@bookface.com with the link and one line saying it is from your course.
If your own upload was removed and you believe that was a mistake, the copyright policy explains how to send a counter-notice to support@bookface.com.
