Getting paid

When your buyback payout is sent, how the amount is decided, and where it goes.

Your payout is sent after your books arrive and are inspected. It goes to the payout account you entered at checkout.

How the amount is decided

Every book is inspected and priced on its own:

  • Accepted books are paid at the price quoted when you placed the order.
  • Downgraded books are accepted at a lower price, usually because the copy is in worse condition than a resalable used book. The order page shows the quoted price crossed out next to the price paid.
  • Rejected books are not paid for.

Your payout on the order page is the sum of what each book was paid. It can be lower than Total quoted, and it is never higher.

To get the quoted amount in full, send the books you quoted, in good used condition, packed so they arrive undamaged. See Ship your books.

When it is sent

Payment goes out once the order reaches Inspected, which happens after your box arrives and every book has been checked. The order page then moves to Payment sent and shows the date, and you receive an email listing each book, its outcome, the quoted and paid amounts, the total, and where it was sent. See Check buyback status.

Where it goes

Payments are electronic, to the method you picked at checkout: PayPal, Zelle, Venmo, Cash App or Apple Pay, and to the handle, email or phone number you entered for it. The order page shows the method under Payout method.

Double-check the handle at checkout: a payment sent to the wrong account is hard to recover. If you spot a mistake after placing the order, email support@bookface.com with the BB Order# before the books arrive.

If it has not arrived

Check the order page first. If it still says Pending inspection, the books have not been checked in yet; the tracking number on the page shows where the box is. If it says Payment sent and nothing has reached your account after a few business days, email us with the order number and we will look into it.
